Hospice "Casa Sperantei" Brasov - Romania

Patient Care Services

Our hospice medical team has provided home care free of charge for terminally ill adults and children in Brasov county since 1992. The hospice team, consisting of 5 doctors, 7 nurses, a psychologist and a priest, brings symptomatic treatment, pain control, and emotional and spiritual support to our patients. At any given time there are approximately 90- 95 patients in our care.

The majority of these are adults with cancer although our patients also include children suffering from degenerative neuro-motor diseases, congenital malformations, or metabolic diseases. To date, the hospice has cared for approximately 1400 patients in Brasov County and the surrounding area.

The medical team also makes periodic visits to the local Oncology Hospital to give consultations to advanced cancer patients.

Because 80% of all new cancer patients in Romania are already in an advanced phase, palliative care is especially important. The care and support that our medical team brings to our patients is invaluable.
